Bloomers

Abstract
Bloomers is an interactive immersive experience game which focuses on educating its players through immersive projection and props, role play game mechanics, and accessible design. The game was exhibited in the Enhanced Immersion Studio (EIS) at Arizona State University (ASU). Bloomers was made as an investigative tool of research on the use of educational content and methods within interactive immersive experience design and its effectiveness relating to use of technology, emotional design, and practical accessibility.
The project was completed within a semester's worth of time in Spring of 2026 (Jan-March). Bloomers utilized spatial audio, floor and wall projection, and interactable props to create a colorful, memorable experience for adults and children alike.
Additionally, Bloomers explores issues within ecology while appealing to all audiences, specifically relating to pollination. The player's goal is to restore the garden to its original state, so that the bees, birds, bats and butterflies return at the end of the experience.

Overview
Gameplay
Everyone in Bloomers is a pollinator. Players pick between bee, bat, butterfly, and humming bird when picking their roles. This determines where they will be, and how they pollinate. The game happens in day and night rounds, with pollinators collecting pollen, ovules, then planting seeds!

Philosophy
This experience was made with love, care, and recycled materials! Most props were crafted by hand, and all illustrations were hand drawn. It was also crafted for all ages and audience types, there are multiple ways to play and enjoy yourself.

Intent
Bloomers was created to discover how different uses of immersive technology and design impact people. It was also made with the purpose of learning while having fun exploring.
